I am half Japanese, born and raised in Dallas, Texas. My mother is from Okinawa and my father is from Massachusetts. I later moved to Virginia where I lived in a basement and worked on many jigsaw puzzles.
Although I read many Japanese comics when I was in Middle School, I truly became interested in my Japanese heritage through my friend's Japanese exchange student who came to America during my 4th year of High School.? This exchange student introduced me to many Japanese popular things such as music, television, and fashion.? Very quickly I learned the names of many famous Japanese celebrities and could sing many Japanese songs including the Doraemon song.? After I moved to Virginia, I had the opportunity to assist various Japanese bands, such as ZZ, m.o.v.e, and Penicillin, who came to attend American conventions.
Eventually I decided to study Japanese in Japan, so with the help of my good friend, Vanessa, I now attend a Japanese language school in Shinjuku Gyoen and continue to learn about the typical Tokyo lifestyle.
I find Japan to be a very different place from America and on my free time enjoy exploring the local Tokyo cities. I love the shopping in Shimokitazawa, sweets at Namja Town in Ikebukuro, drinking in Shinjuku, and the crepes in Harajuku. I also like to read mystery books, watch Japanese variety shows, organizing, and I do a load of laundry everyday.
I would like to be fluent in Japanese one day so I can understand why English conversations are so important to Japanese people. I hope everyone can have fun talking with me. I look forward to meeting everyone.
