| My name is Sam and I am from the mountainy state Colorado in the U.S. Japan has always been in my life, whether you count my childhood hero "Ultraman" or my favorite Jazz band "Hiroshima", Japan has always found a way to get my attention. I used to call myself an "Otaku", but now I am into so much more that Japan has to offer than anime and video games. This culture I find very interesting, it is different in so many ways, but not enough to make me feel far away from home. The first time I came to Japan was in 2005 and I loved it and felt at home immediatly (which is saying a lot considering all the places I have traveled). Since then I have been back each Summer and now, this time visiting I chose to stay for good. Even though I have been to a lot of cities in Japan, I would say that Tokyo is still my favorite. Why wouldn't you like the biggest city in Japan and the second biggest city in the world? Currently I live in Asakusa district at the moment and like it a lot, interesting place, especially during the "Hanabi Festival" in July. Before I started working, I would explore Tokyo each day with my trusty skateboard and try to find interesting places I hadn't seen yet. Thanks to that, I think and feel like I know Tokyo like the back of my hand. What can I say about Japan that hasn't been said a million times already? Well, the toilets with the talking seats are amusing, the homeless people are very self-reliant, and there are no sidewalks or trashcans ;). I am the most open person you will ever meet, so come in, sit down, grab a cup of tea and ask me about my life and I will ask you about yours. |
